Privacy Policy
Effective: June 12, 2026
ApexHQ ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your personal information and your health data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information gathered through the ApexHQ high-altitude monitoring platform.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly to us and data generated through your use of the platform:
- Account information — name and email address when you create an account
- Health and expedition data — SpO2 readings, heart rate variability (HRV), Lake Louise AMS self-assessment scores, altitude progression, sleep quality, hydration and nutrition logs, and weather conditions submitted via the monitoring dashboard or wearable integrations
- Wearable device data — data ingested from Garmin, Apple Watch, WHOOP, Polar, Strava, and other integrated devices via their respective APIs
- Usage data — browser type, session duration, pages visited, and interaction patterns within the platform (for service improvement only)
- Communications — messages you send us via the contact form or support channels
2. How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to:
- Provide and maintain the ApexHQ monitoring service, including real-time AMS/HAPE/HACE risk scoring and alert generation
- Store and display your expedition history, acclimatization trends, and health metrics
- Generate contextualized risk assessments that combine Lake Louise scores, SpO2, altitude, HRV, sleep, and ascent rate data
- Send you risk alerts, threshold notifications, and expedition summaries via email or SMS
- Improve platform performance, reliability, and feature set
- Respond to your inquiries and support requests
We do not sell your personal information or health data to third parties.
3. Data Storage and Security
All data is stored in PostgreSQL databases hosted by Neon (neon.tech), a managed cloud database service. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest. Access to production database systems is restricted to authorized personnel and is logged.
ApexHQ is a decision-support tool for altitude illness risk monitoring. We do not currently hold HIPAA certification. If you require HIPAA-compliant data handling for your organization, please contact us before subscribing at support@apexhq.com.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.
4. Data Sharing
We share information only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers — third parties that help us operate the platform (e.g., email delivery, cloud infrastructure). These providers are contractually bound to handle data only for the services they perform on our behalf
- Wearable integrations — when you connect a Garmin, Apple Watch, or other device, data flows between that device and ApexHQ under that provider's own privacy policy. Review each provider's data practices before connecting
- Legal obligations — when required by law, court order, or government authority
We do not use your health data for advertising, marketing, or any purpose unrelated to the ApexHQ service.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of all personal and health data we hold about you
- Correction — request correction of inaccurate personal information
- Deletion — request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Portability — request your data in a portable format (JSON)
- Objection — opt out of non-essential data processing
To exercise any of these rights, email support@apexhq.com. We respond to all requests within 30 days.
6. Cookies
ApexHQ uses essential and analytics cookies to maintain session state and understand how visitors use the platform. For full details, see our Cookies Consent page.
